Kwaito musician and producer Spikiri (also known as Mandla Mofokeng) recently placed his superstar image aside and put on his Good Samaritan cap to help a community in need. According to Sowetan live, Spikiri has donated 30 school uniforms to the disadvantaged pupils of Meadowlands High.
Spikiri told the newspaper about his own experiences of not being able to afford a full uniform when going to school and how he empathises with the new generation of pupils in his neighbourhood who are going through the same hardships he went through.
“I know how hard it is to go to school without a full uniform. My wish is to at least help those who are less fortunate.”
Spikiri plans to extend his helping hand by donating more stationary and food to pupils across the nation
The Kwaito musician has played a very a prevalent role in SA’s music industry introducing to us well-known acts such as Alaska, Bongo Muffin and Boom Shaka who were released by the legendary and influential label Kalawa Jazzmee in which he is founder and co-director.
We’d like to applaud Spikiri for job well done and hope his work will not go unnoticed.
