Lerato Mogoatle, senior journalist at True Love magazine describes Dineo Moeketsi as unlike other bad-mannered, loudmouthed and confused young starlets. “Dineo shows that you don’t have to be a brat to be successful,” she says. Dineo is young, her career is on the rise and her demand on the social scene is increasing. She presents Channel O’s O-Access, an enviable presenting job as it’s filmed in Los Angeles and features some of the biggest names in international pop music. Dineo is tenacious, articulate, sassy and driven; all characteristics that made her a fine student at the New York School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. Unfortunately, Dineo dropped out of her studies because she “had no more money.”
Dineo is determined to remain true to herself saying that “a lot people try and change who I am. Someone said I don’t have street credibility and must get it by appearing in a Hip Hop video. Well, I’m not going to shake this ass unless it’s a good day to shake it.” While she is still finding her feet, the presenter is also an actress and a singer with an album in the making.
Dineo admits that music is her first love and she is aiming to be a triple threat as a singer, actress and presenter. As an actress, she has starred on our local screens in Soul City, City Ses’la, Jacob’s Cross and in Skyf The Movie. She also has a cameo role in Winnie, the international movie about the life of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.
“In all her different roles, Dineo embodies one of the most important lessons her mother taught her, namely: ‘Remember that everyone gets their moment in the sun. Make the best of it while you’re still there.’ Dineo’s moment has taken 10 years to arrive because it’s been a labour of love and talent. She may be beautiful but unlike most, Dineo Moeketsi has worked hard to become the one to watch,” says Mogoatle.
