Did you know that over 350 rhinos have been poached in SA this year alone? World Rhino Day is on the 22nd of September and so, we chatted to some local stars to hear what they had to say about the cause and just why it’s so close to their hearts…
“Fortunately and unfortunately it has come to this. Where we have, and need, a ‘World Rhino Day’. It is amazing to see different organisations, not only in Africa but also the world over, taking part and giving these amazing God given creatures a voice. My prayer is for the people killing off these precious animals to finally develop a conscious. To everybody stepping up, I salute you!” Marisa Drummond.
“I honestly find this entire situation to be completely unacceptable – how this brutal slaughter of our precious animals is even happening is beyond me. I think we need to look at small ways we can help. The ways this can be done is by donating to worthy causes, buying rhino arm bands or donating to ACT and other charities who are putting dogs on the ground and planes in the sky on full moon nights to patrol. I recently sky dived for the rhino – I got people to sponsor my jump and managed to raise a considerable amount of money. Every bit helps!” Josette Eales
“I’m a big supporter of World Rhino Day! I already bought my rhino bracelet and am fully on board with any project in support of saving the brutal and unnecessary murders of the dying species. It’s a crisis that needs attention and needs to be stopped!”Jay Anstey
“It’s a sad occurrence and people shouldn’t do such things. We must soldier on to fight against Rhino poaching…” Jenny Morris
Tyrone Keogh skydives for the rhinos!
Watch the video below as SA’s sexiest man, Tyrone Keogh, jumps out of a plane 3000 metres above the ground for charity. Nothing like a hot man with a good heart!
As this day arrives how will you get involved?
