As 2012 comes to an end, Zalebs reflect on the past year, and look forward to facing 2013, fresh-faced and open-minded! Find out what these Zalebs had to say about their resolutions for 2013…
Blayze, musician
“Next year, I aim to live and eat healthier. I want to learn how to speak another South African language, and successfully complete a music theory course I’m looking into. I also plan on growing my business and music career to as far as it can possibly go!”
Vimbai Mutinhiri, Star Gist presenter
“I have to pat myself on the back for a great 2012. Sticking to this year’s resolutions means I’m starting 2013 with a lighter load. 2013 is all about exploring new things: new food, new places and even new skills! I aim to be spontaneous and take advantage of every moment and opportunity the year presents me with.”
Lerato Moloi, model and presenter
“For 2013, I want to carry on being true to myself, stay focused, and remember that every situation has a silver lining. I have a vision board with my goals on which motivates me throughout the year to go for what I want. There aren’t a lot of goals – usually about five – but they’re meaningful to my life, and I work towards fulfilling them step by step.”
Jay Anstey, actress
“Every New Year’s eve, when the clock strikes 12, I make sure I’m somewhere quiet, with a small group of people, sober and clear-headed. I reflect on the year I’ve had and think of ways to improve myself and my life based on the experiences I’ve had throughout that specific year. 2012 has been a tough year, but I have a feeling 2013 is gonna be amazing!”
Slikour, hip hop artist
“In 2013, I wanna use every moment I have to be creative; creativity is the force that drives me. I aim to be present in every aspect of my life, and use this presence to bring about change – to be the small drop in a vast ocean – surrounding myself with good people while at it.”
Lorna Maseko, presenter and businesswoman
“I couldn’t be more stoked for the new year – so many exciting things ahead. I look forward to growing as a brand and businesswoman. I think people will see the Lorna Maseko brand in a completely different light with a lot more impact than ever before. Next year will be the year where all my strengths as a multi-talented television personality will be highlighted and shared with my fans.”
Rorisang Thandekiso, presenter and journalist
“This year’s resolutions are out the box, fun but doable! I have always put down targets that have been difficult, unrealistic and most importantly, things I was not passionate about! This year I want to dance in the rain, work out more and learn a new language. Then to more serious things, I want to reach new heights in my career and spend more time with family.”
Pearl Thusi, Real Goboza Live presenter
“I always choose to not have resolutions. My only plan is to progress wholly as a person and grow day by day, no matter which part of the year it is. Everyday day, week, month and year offers a new beginning. I plan to follow God’s plan for me.”
