We think Khanyisa, this week’s bachelor, had planned to feature on Come Dine With Me South Africa, and, unfortunately, the show was canned. So to recover from the disappointment he sought solace on Date My Family.
If Khanyisa was really looking for love, he would have left his career behind. Okay, maybe he was genuinely looking for a girlfriend, but he let his career overshadow his judgement.
Philisiwe’s family were the first to impress the 26-year-old chef and, it didn’t go well. Khanyisa just held his plate throughout and left the food untouched. We agree the meat was a bit burned but let’s be honest, you can’t be a guest and insults someone’s cooking as if you were the one who bought the food. That was very uncouth from Khanyisa. Even Julius Malema isn’t this raw.

As for Philisiwe, declaring that she’s an alcoholic yet looking for love on national television is a big NO. We are not saying she should pretend, but she took this “be yourself” a tad too far. Honestly, who wants to be with a woman who smells like a brewery half of the time?
Just when we thought nothing would meet the bachelor’s standards, Liso’s family held it together. Khanyisa ate his food and didn’t complain, but we are sure inside he was dying to score them.
Refilwe’s family also managed to get the chef smiling. But even with the gold fork and knife, Refilwe wasn’t chosen. But that didn’t seem like a train smash for the beautiful Refilwe. With that confidence we hope she finds her prince charming. In fact, how is she still single?
See, Khanyisa was all about food and nothing more. He didn’t even have a lot of requirements when it comes to the kind of woman he wants. He just said he wants a beautiful woman. Because of that we are not sure of the reasons why he chose to go out with Liso. Was he impressed that Liso has tattoos and therefore they have something in common because he’s also inked? Or is it because she is also Xhosa and happens to love cooking? Or maybe because she’s from the suburbs?
Whatever the reason might be, it’s good enough after all the chemistry we witnessed when the two finally met. The connection was apparent and they seemed smitten with each other, just seeing them together made us smile. This was the best match by far on the show.
Can we have a follow-up season on all the people who went on dates? Especially on Liso and Khanyi, to see if they managed to come with a recipe to a long-lasting relationship.
