It has been a sad week for music lovers as they have had to bid farewell to one of their favourite hip hop stars, Flabba (real name Nkululeko Habedi) who was laid to rest on Sunday. The Skwatta Kamp member was allegedly stabbed to death by his girlfriend Sindisiwe Manqele on Monday, 9 March. She was arrested and appeared in the Alexandra Magistrate's court.
And now, a few days later, details of what led to his death have emerged. Sunday World has reported that the lovers started fighting at The Sands, a nightclub in Sandton, Johannesburg.
Police officers, who did not want to be named, told the paper that Sindisiwe slapped Flabba at The Sands after accusing him of flirting with his ex-girlfriend. One officer told he paper that the woman, who is being charged with murder, got angry when she saw the rapper constantly taking a break to chat to the woman. She reportedly confronted him, asking him why he disrespected her by getting cosy with his ex in her presence. "The two argued over this and she slapped him," the cop told Sunday World.
They drove home in a friend's car, where another argument started. The rapper reportedly slapped Sindisiwe, who then locked him out of his backyard cottage.
The paper reported that Sindisiwe told police that Flabba beat her up after asking why she refused to open the door for him. "She told the cops when questioned at the cottage that she stabbed him by mistake with a knife during a scuffle. But when they asked her where she got the knife from she kept quiet. When she was asked again she broke a beer bottle and started to cut herself," the officer explained.
When she finally opened for him, an argument reportedly erupted inside and they started fighting, which led to Sindisiwe stabbing the rapper. According to the officer, she then hit a wardrobe with her shoulder and fell to the ground. Flabba's relatives reportedly rushed to help her as they thought she had been hurt by the rapper.
The officer continued: "She then said, 'Sorry, I have done something wrong. I stabbed him by mistake.'" By that time, Flabba was screaming and saying, 'f**K, this b**** has just stabbed me'. He was declared dead at the scene.
The paper also revealed that as Flabba was taking his last breath, Sindisiwe was crying hysterically. She reportedly placed her hand on his chest and asked him not to leave her.
Sindisiwe will appear in the Alexandra Magistrate's Court on Monday, where she will apply for bail.
