The ANCWL has sent out a statement responding to Ntsiki Mazwai's recent Twitter attack towards the league.

The ANCWL has finally responded to Ntsiki’s recent Twitter rant after the poet and musician attacked the organisation, calling them “idiots” and “panties”.

Speaking to ZAlebs, the ANCWL’s spokesperson had initially said they did not want to comment on Ntsiki’s recent attack. However, in a recently released statement, the league has revealed that they are utterly disappointed with Ntsiki.

“Much to our dismay, we had hoped that she , not only as a woman poet and singer, would assist the women’s league and any other association in favour of leading women’s objectives in a more educational and constructive form. We had hoped she also would comprehend her role as a ‘celebrity and surround herself with the amount of stance in being a role model for many women who may look up to her,” the league’s secretary general Meokgo Matuba said.

Matuba also added that not only is the league disappointed, but are worried at how Ntsiki pictures other women and how they achieve their goals.

“In your position, Ms Mazwai, one should have the knowledge that clearly stipulates how the majority of women, especially in the public sector have met the threshold of leading strategic positions based on the merit of intellect and not through your so called ‘panties’," she added.

"Your statement is not only an utter disappointment to those whom you refer to as ‘idiots’ but paints a very worrying picture of how you think women can only achieve their goals, which goes to show the lack of conscience and clarity you copiously possess about the growth of women in this country.”

Ntsiki, earlier on in the week, also engaged in a Twitter rant directed at Minister of Sports and Recreation Fikile Mbalula, who had claimed that Ntsiki smokes weed.

Ntsiki did not take to his comment lightly, and also responded.

Ntsiki Mazwai has since voiced more opinions about the ANCWL on her Twitter account.
