Angelina Jolie made a joint decision with fiance Brad Pitt to cast their daughter Vivienne in 'Maleficent' and while the idea was "cute" the reality took a "second" to come to terms with.
The 38-year-old actress who plays the titular villain in the re-imagining of Walt Disney's 1959 'Sleeping Beauty' worked opposite her adorable five-year-old daughter who portrays the young Princess Aurora and she admits it was a joint decision with her hunky partner before she agreed to let the tot have the part.
Talking to collider.com, she said: "We realised that there was no way that we were going to find a four or five-year-old that I could be as strong with, that would not see me as a monster. Suddenly, there was Vivi, running around looking like little Aurora and everybody thought, 'Oh, the answer is right there.' But then, I had to go home and talk to dad. It's our kid, so it's so sweet. The idea of it was so cute to us, as mummy and daddy. But then, there was the fact that she would be in a film. All of that took us a second."
Jolie admits it was hard at times enticing Vivienne to do the right things but little one had the support of her whole family - including siblings Maddox, 12, Pax, 10, Zahara, nine, Shiloh, seven, and Knox, five - while she was working on the film.
She added: "The first day was the day that she had to catch the butterfly, and she just really didn't feel like doing it. I actually was holding the pole with the ball on the end, and bouncing up and down and dancing, trying to make her laugh. And daddy was on the edge of the cliff that she had to jump off, making faces and doing all of these things. And her brothers and sisters were egging her on. She eventually did it, but she was taking her sweet time, and didn't want to do it twice, certainly.
