Bailey's Winter survival tips

Today is Autumn Day and I can definitely feel it. The mornings and evenings are getting colder, the sun is setting earlier and the leaves are starting to turn amber.

I don’t mind Autumn – it has a special magic to it. It’s Winter that I’m not such a huge fan on. I’d love to ask Mother Nature to give us some extra Summer time.

Somehow, I don’t think she’s going to oblige.

Instead of getting the Winter blues, I’ve decided to think about some of the things I do love about winter. The first thing that comes to mind is cuddling. What can I say? Okay, seriously… These are some of the things that are going to get me through the winter months:

  • That pesky flu sometimes seems unavoidable, but I always make my lemon, honey and ginger tea. I use fresh ingredients and the ginger, lemon and honey all have healing, natural antibiotic elements to them.
  • While we’re on the topic of drinks, I love a good Hot Chocolate, just don’t forget the mini marshmallows!
  • I’m of Swiss Heritage and Gluhwein is something that we drink often. It’s a warm red wine with citrus and spice undertones.
  • Warm, fluffy blankets are the best to snuggle in with – especially on those weekend lie-ins.
  • Fireplaces - great with the Gluhwein.
  • Chunky knit jerseys that can be dressed up or down and fun, colourful beanies and scarves.
  • Red lipstick – I find that winter clothes become very dark and bright red nails or lipstick, just brighten up any outfit.

Here’s to a warm and wonderful Winter!
