Our first encounter with Matatiele actor Thobani Mseleni was quite an interesting one. The bubbly and confident actor revealed to ZAlebs how surprised he was at the success of the show and how people gravitated towards its riveting storyline.
“People love Matatiele, like it’s shocking, hey! But to be honest, I saw it coming. Number one, the storyline, script and the actors are just amazing… everyone just delivers in that production.”
The outspoken actor also talked passionately about the culture of recycling talent in South Africa and how other talented actors are hardly considered for new projects.
“What annoys me the most is the fakeness. People are fake, people are just fake. Also you’ll be watching SABC 3, e.tv and see the same actors… like? And then you get actors that are unemployed bahleli abanye abantu emzini… I stayed at home for a very long time after acting in Intersexions.”
