Queen B* has added another accolade to her power list! Earlier this year Bonang Matheba was honoured by Forbes Africa Magazine as one of the top women to watch out for in 2013 and by the looks of things they were clearly spot on with their prediction. On her latest blog Matheba proudly announced that she was recognised by New Africa Magazine as one of the top 50 African Trailblazers under the age of 50.
Bonang shares the list with other renowned South African personalities such as Afro pop singer Lira, media mogul Khanyi Dhlomo and Academy Award winning actress Charlize Theron.
At the tender age of 25 we’ve seen Bonang flourish into one of the most successful woman in the South African entertainment industry. If she’s not designing her new set of handbags you’re bound to hear her voice on radio or even better yet watch her elegantly present her own segment on SABC 3’s lifestyle show Top Billing. Earlier this year we saw Matheba make her acting debut as nurse Seipati in the award winning TV drama series Intersexions, many were sceptic of the new acting gig she had taken on but as always she proved us wrong with her performance even though it was too short for us to judge. And just when you thought she couldn’t do anything else Matheba partnered up with Bruital Fruit and introduced her own cocktail titled the B*Sting - is there anything this lady can’t do?!
Bonang took to her blog and humbly expressed her gratitude towards her being acknowledged as Africa’s top 50 Trailblazer.
“This was such a pleasant surprise to me, because when I wake up every morning to do what I do, it’s not in search of accolades but it is to perfect my craft, so when I do get acknowledged I always feel very humbled.”
If you’re still in doubt of Bonang’s prowess you should take a look at her Twitter account as she is one of the few South Africans who has a verified account with over 400 000 followers.
In the May edition of New African Magazine Bonang share’s the trailblazer list with vice president of Viacom International Networks – Alex Okosi, musicians P-Square and Nigerian artist D Banj who is now signed to Kanye West’s Good Music label.
