Metro FM has shown the door to the controversial DJ after a series of controversial publicity stunts.

DJ Sbu's time at Metro FM has finally come to an end.

This comes after the controversial DJ, who was suspended after promoting his Mo Faya energy drink at the Metro FM Awards, was officially fired.

According to Sunday Sun, the DJ was shown the door on Tuesday.

Sbu told the paper: "Yes, I've accepted the dismissal from Metro FM. I’m grateful for what the station did for me." He revealed that he wants the station and the national broadcaster to forgive him for what he did during the awards. He added: "I'll be looking forward to working with any station under the SABC because it has nurtured me thus far."

Sbu, who also came under fire after a fake cover of himself on Forbes magazine hit the net, added that he sorted things out with the mag.

"It's just that there are some people who want me to fail," he told Sunday Sun.

He told the paper that he attended a meeting to find out about registering his energy drink at the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS).

He added: "You can't imagine what some people are trying to do. They want to see my energy drink fail to get recognition in the market.

"I'm being investigated for anything I've associated myself with in the past, such as Nike and Unicef.

“If I hadn’t gone to the SABS, I wouldn’t have found out that certain people have been harassing the staff members in connection with my energy drink – and asking whether it’s registered with SABS or not."

Wow, it has definitely been a tough couple of weeks for DJ Sbu. Who do you think will replace him on Metro FM in the coming weeks?
