As if we weren’t spoiled enough last week, E.TV invited us over for dinner, this time, to celebrate the success of two of their weekly shows, eKasi: Our Stories and Mzansi Love. The evening was filled with pleasantries, celebrations and an air of camraderie as we all watched a sneak peek of what to expect in the coming seasons of both shows.
The evening was MC’d by none other than Khanyi Mbau, who set the tone for the evening very nicely with her natural charm and her humor, joking “I woke up at 4 and cut my nails to cook for you guys so you better eat!” She gave a heartfelt thank you to everybody who had made both shows possible, and there was a shared feeling of pride and accomplishment as everybody watched the two shows that we are confident are going to grow into family favorites in South African homes.
When the screening began, we watched the trailer for Mzansi Love first. It was light hearted, humorous with dabs and doses of emotional embraces. It’s a convincing cast that suits the shows atmosphere with the perfect character for every role. Those who had not seen the show before the screening will certainly have been enchanted, hopefully enough to tune in every Tuesday.
If Mzansi Love’s Rom-Com-esque trailer was cute and funny, eKasi:Our Stories’ was everything you expect from an action/drama blockbuster. It was exciting, drilling and captivating! There were oohs and ahs, and moments of awe-inspired silence. The trailer ended to a chorus of cheers and hearty applause as people knew “This is a show that I have to watch”
E.TV is making excellent headway with their shows firmly securing their places on viewers’ TV schedules. These two shows are strong, creative and exciting. People of all ages will be able to relate to both, and it doesn’t hurt that the shows are topped off by excellent casts.
My Monday and Tuesday evenings are sorted from next week onwards. I’ll be glued to the screen doing what I can to support both Mzansi Love and eKasi: Our Stories.
You can catch eKasi on E.TV every Monday night at 21:00 and Mzansi Love every Tuesday Night at 20:30.
