Exclusive: Terrence Jenkins

Newly-appointed E! Entertainment talent Terrence Jenkins is fast becoming one of the “it” rising stars in Hollywood. Having first gained fame for hosting the popular BET music video countdown show, 106 & Park, Jenkins has since ventured into acting and his latest role of joining Giuliana Rancic as a co-anchor on E! News.

Jenkins, who joined E! Entertainment as a replacement of Ryan Seacrest, spoke to ZAlebs to share some insight on his exciting new job and looking up to Seacrest as a mentor.

What’s it been like to join the E! Entertainment family?

It’s been fun! E! Has such an amazing cast and they produce and showcase some great stories. I simply love working with Giuliana – she’s funny and so professional. We get along just fine.

How is this different from BET’s 106 & Park?

Firstly, this is live where as previously I did mostly pre-recorded shows. I now also get to wrap my head around stories that I love, and also I’m on a daily show now too.

What are some of your goals/dreams for 2013?

I try to live each day as it comes and focus on the present. Right now, I am working on doing the best possible job here at E! News, and that really has my focus.

Do you see yourself emulating Ryan Seacrest’s media empire?

There are few as successful as Ryan, that’s for sure. I certainly admire his work and what he has built. I’ll just do my best each day and look at each opportunity that comes my way.

What’s the best advice he’s given you so far?

What’s great is that he hasn’t left E! He is still the Managing Editor here and I get to learn a lot from Ryan. On my first day here, Ryan told me to relax and enjoy myself. That is good advice, too. If you are not enjoying what you are doing, then you are missing a lot of the experience.
