Make no mistake, our respect and love for the renowned diva that is Mariah Carey is unmeasurable. Her achievements in the music industry will make you wonder what on earth you’ve been doing with your life. Then, of course, there’s her actual music which not only makes one sway from side to side in nostalgia but it goes so far as to actually has a conversation with you. When last did a song speak to you eh?
But we have a bone to pick with Mimi and her lambs (that's her fans). Why have we let this woman make the same album cover for the past 10 years!? Or should we direct the questions to the creatives behind all these album covers?
Last week all of Mariah's lambs patiently waited for her elusive fourteenth studio album titled Me. I am Mariah... which is said to be gunning for the number 3 spot on iTunes, unsurprising news to us after all she has the best selling Christmas album of all time!
Back to the the album cover saga:
Let's track back a bit to 2004, when Mimi made her succesful comeback after the disaster that was the Glitter album and movie. In 2004 Mrs Cannon released the Emmancipation of Mimi which was a great success- So was the album cover. However, we fast forward to 2014 and look at the Me. I am Mariah album and we feel hurt. Such similiarities in both these covers, the color of the dress/bikini, even the poses too.
Then there was the white dress album covers. Don't get it twisted the Memoirs of an imperfect Angel was one beautiful album. No comment on the Glitter album.
Mariah needs something fresh and different in the next album! But thankfully, the music will always make up for it (We hope!)
