It's Friends Day!

You probably woke up this morning to tons of friendship collages on Facebook.

The social network site is celebrating its12th birthday, and in honour of the special day, it declared Thursday “Friends Day”.

Before you get annoyed with everyone on your timeline reminiscing about their “amazing” friendships (insert gagging sound here), check out five celebrities you probably had no idea were friends.

Some of these friendships are major shockers.

Lloyd Cele and Loyiso Bala

"SA’s hottest bromance"

Former Idols SA contestant Lloyd Cele is friends with a big name in the local music industry. The award-winning artist has a bromance with fellow musician Loyiso Bala. The pair don’t just hang out, but perform together as well. Lloyd, who is a father of two, also admires the famous Bala brother’s family values. “I have the utmost respect and admiration for this man. I have learned so much from Him, what I Love the most about Him other than His #music, is that He is a #GodFearing and dedicated #familyman,” Lloyd said on Instagram in 2015.

Mariah Carey and Lacey Chabert

“On Wednesdays we wear pink”

We have to admit, we had no idea that Mariah Carey had any friends at all. Between all her self-promotion you’d think she hardly has time for friends. But it seems the 45-year-old recently struck up a friendship with Mean Girls star, Lacey Chabert. Mimi is a huge fan of the movie, and at one point in her career (probably the meltdown phase) was obsessed with using popular phases from the movie like, “that’s so fetch” and “on Wednesdays we wear pink”.  Mariah directed Lacey in the 2015 Hallmark movie, A Christmas Melody. We know what you are thinking, when the hell did Mariah Carey become a film director? Probably around the same time hell froze over! But this is all about friendship, and this unlikely pair seem to be bonding just fine.

Jennifer Aniston and Selena Gomez

“Friends”

This may come as a shock to some of you, but Courtney Cox is not Jennifer’s Aniston’s only BFF. Yes, Rachel and Monica are friends in real life, but Jennifer is also super close with Disney star, Selena Gomez. They go way back - okay, not WAY back, because Selena would be in diapers, but the unlikely friendship is the real deal. “I have not only been following her career as a fan since I was 8 and now get to watch her completely transform in her new movie CAKE, I have gotten to have real conversations with such a real heart, made my entire year,” Selena said on Instagram. Awww, so no one told Selena life was gonna be this way?

David Beckham and Snoop Dogg

"Snoopy and Becks"

Whoa, here’s a celebrity friendship we had no idea existed. Soccer star David Beckham and Snoop Dogg are so close, they hang out at each other’s cribs – as Snoop Lion would say. But we doubt Victoria Beckham gets any invites to hang with the boys. She apparently called the rapper Snoopy during their first meeting, and he was obviously not impressed. He’s not a real dog, Posh Spice! Allegedly.

Pearl Thusi and Clint Brink

"Gym buddies"

Pearl Thusi has so many celebrity friends, we have lost count. But you probably did not know that actor and singer, Clint Brink, is one of her BFF’s. The pair are actually gym buddies, and work on their abs and stuff.
