There will be no wedding bells anywhere in the near future for suspended ANC Youth League spokesperson Floyd Shivambu. Sunday World reports that the politician and his fiancee, Itumeleng Phoshoko, are no longer engaged. The news follows on recent revelations where Shivambu was accused of wrecking another couple’s three-year relationship through a love triangle.
This may have contributed to the break-up of Shivambu and Phoshoko. The announcement was made just days before Shivambu was to open lobola proceedings with the bride-to-be’s family and a source told Sunday World that “the two broke up because [Phoshoko] complained that Floyd did not have time for her and suspected he was flirting with other women behind her back.”
The source also revealed that Shivambu was unhappy with Phoshoko’s enjoyment of alcohol and smoking, while his family apparently disapproved because she is not religious. Phoshoko, a mining engineer, refused to give any comment, but Shivambu confirmed its over:
"We have separated but I prefer not to talk about it because it is not necessary to talk about these things in public. Many people's expectations were raised. I don't want to be dealing with such now. I believed things would change, but they just got worse.”
