The actors reportedly “stormed out” of the studios on Friday and the strike comes just weeks after they returned to work after a month long strike in October.
The cast members went back to work after the SABC’s acting chief operating officer, Hlaudi Motsoeneng, got involved.
A production official spoke to City Press on condition of anonymity claimed that executive producer, Mfundi Vundla was under the influence of “white people”.
The official, who declined to identify these white people, said “the majority of producers” reporting to executive producer Vundla were white.
“This has nothing to do with racism,” said the official, “but we feel that white people are running the show and this man has no say in many things that are happening here. They are the ones who told him that they would replace us when we demanded the three-year contracts.”
“Our relationship with ‘Generations’ has been like that of a woman who is stuck in an abusive relationship. Now we say ‘enough is enough’ – we must speak out against this abuse.”
SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said they were not aware that the actors were on strike.
“We will only intervene when the matter is officially reported to us,” he said.
