Controversy has arisen over the sudden death of the two-year-old boy who played 'Generations' baby Mpilo.
Mpilo is the on-screen son of Khethiwe, played by Winnie Modise, but mystery surrounds the unexpected death of Oratile Tshedza Mahene, the little boy who was cast in the role.
According to Sunday World, Oratile died as far back as September 2013, apparently two days after he spent some time on set, shooting scenes at the soapie's studios in Auckland Park.
Oratile's death certificate reportedly states that he died from "unnatural causes", something which the baby boy's parents could not in good conscience ignore.
The situation is made even more suspicious by the fact that the popular program didn't release a statement, but kept unnervingly mum about the tragic death of the young cast member, with unsettling rumours claiming that publicist Brenda Byakunda-Ngwenya was explicitly ordered not to do so.
Nyakunda-Ngwenya is no longer a 'Generations' employee.
The publication reportedly received confirmation from police spokesperson Solomon Sibiya, who said that the cast and crew members of the soapie was to be questioned about Oratile's mysterious death.
