On Tuesday 19 August, DJ Fresh and the Gumtree Extreme ReFresh team visited Little Pina Pina, a day care centre which is located in Soweto, with the intention of giving the centre a complete revamp. We spent some time with Fresh and the ReFresh team to identify all the renovations that need to be done to the centre.
DJ Fresh is urging all Gauteng residents to donate items to Little Pina Pina's Wish List. If a donated item is needed for the ReFresh, Gumtree will arrange for it to be collected directly from the donator and delivered to Little Pina Pina.

The ReFresh team will travel around the province with the goal of collecting and ticking items from the Wish List. Toys, furniture, electronics and appliances are the most needed items for Little Pina Pina.
We were able to identify that the daycare centre is also in need of a new lick of paint, brand new vinyl flooring, artificial grass, re-plumbing, electrical wiring and numerous other things needed to create a safe and secure environment for the young and cute children to learn and play.
We spoke to 5FM's DJ Fresh about the partnership with Gumtree as well as the revamp of the daycare centre. The radio DJ said:
“Basically this is a partnership between me and Gumtree. Sometimes you find that people don’t have money that they can donate to people or places that are in need. However, you might have a washing machine which you not using or you might have some spare paint so we are just calling on people to donate anything that will help the need. With Gumtree, we at least have a platform that will make things happen. We all know Gumtree that is SA's biggest online classifieds but sometimes people don’t want to sell stuff. So we are just facilitating that and making sure that people are able to give away what they don’t need. So if you're giving away your washing machine, we can come and pick it up from you and make sure that the people that need it get it.”
The renovation and refurbishment of Little Pina Pina will be done by using donations made on Gumtree by all Gauteng residents. DJ Fresh is also calling on all big and small businesses to get involved by volunteering their time and skills to renovate the facility.
The launch was very successful as Lorraine Mnyandu, Little Pina Pina’s Principal, and all the kids were excited about the good news of their school being renovated.
