Hey Good Looking!

The gorgeous Nicole Lamberts was crowned Miss Veet SA 2012 at a glitzy ceremony at the SANSUI Summer Cup at Turffontein Racecourse in Johannesburg on 1 December 2012.  Nicole, who currently lives in Stellenbosch,  is a 3rd year student at Tygerberg Medical campus studying Occupational Therapy.

Moments after her crowning an emotional Nicole said: “I just can’t believe it.  This is so amazing.  I can’t believe I won. I am so grateful for this opportunity.  Thanks to Veet and everybody who has been a part of this amazing journey with me. I can’t wait to get my modelling career off the ground.”

The judges included the likes of Nicci Collier(Marie Claire), Sasha Lee Davids (singer, and former Idols winner, now heard on Heart), Thandanani Mhlanga (COSMO), Ayanda Tini (Good Hope FM), Veet Ambassador Cindy Nell and the Veet team.

We caught up with Nicole to find out what her plans are for the future…

What was running through your mind when you heard your name being announced as the winner of Miss Veet 2012?

It was unbelievable! I was extremely excited but a part of me was also a bit sad. I’d formed such an amazing relationship with the other contestants and I knew how badly each and every one of us wanted the title! It was definitely a catch 22 situation.

What was the best experience of the entire Miss Veet Journey?

Well, I’ve been in the modelling industry for a while but this specific competition opened my eyes to things in the industry that I had little knowledge of. The modelling management team had prepared us up to the last moment of the competition on how to be a proper ambassador and how to always tackle every situation within the modelling world with vigour and professionalism.  Also, it’s made me very aware that modelling is not only about the physical appearance but also about how one performs at a specific casting and how one carries themselves when engaging with a client to actually get the job. There’s more to just being a model with a pretty face.

Now that you’ve won this title, what do your responsibilities entail as Miss Veet 2012?

Winning the competition has helped me to schedule a trip overseas to work as a full time model and to be a brand ambassador for Veet, so those are my core responsibilities for now. I’m going to have to put my studies on hold for now - I want to be open to more opportunities that may present themselves to me.

I’m sure being Miss Veet has a lot of perks! What types of prizes did you win and which are your favourite?

Going into this wasn’t about the freebies, even though we received so many awesome things sponsored by Veet and also got the opportunity to stay in the beautiful Veet Villa in Camps Bay! It was amazing because in the morning we’d wake up at 6am and take a jog on the beach and just take in the beautiful view.

Being Miss Veet comes with a whole lot of responsibilities and I’m sure it can be a bit overwhelming at times; do you have a mentor that will be guiding you during your reign?

I have a lot of people behind me and supporting me. Right now I’ll be working quite closely with Sandra from Veet and most importantly I think I’ll just let God take control and help me get through any challenges I might face during the course of my reign.  Also, all the girls who were participating in the competition have been so supportive! My friends and family have also been amazing so I think I’ve got a pretty strong support base.
