It’s been a weekend of mass election rally’s and political ytjukutjing as political parties make their last plead for us to vote for them, we hope you’re getting inked up this coming Wednesday. Whilst all political parties battle it out to win our votes, local artists have also been backing up the politicians and receiving a bit of political revenue for their support. But for one of our favourite rappers it all unfortunately backfired on him.
SAMA winner iFani gave off a hair-raising performance at the Coca Cola Dome this past weekend during the DA rally. Unfortunately it's not the only thing he raised as his performance sent mixed messages to the ANC who had also booked him to perform this Sunday.
Performing for both politcal rally's was clearly not a a smart move for the Milli rapper who then unexpectedly had his ANC performance cancelled by the political party.
One singer who understood why iFani’s performance got cancelled is singer Simphiwe Dana who was quite vocal about the consequences of mixing your brand with differant political parties
Sizwe Dhlomo also understood why the ANC's decision to cancel out iFani. He also made it clear that in any businesses situation iFani's gig would've been cancelled regardless as he also mentioned of someone he knew who lost a BMW deal because they performed at an Audi event.
With all the political drama surrounding him we thought iFani was simply going to lay low until the dust settled but like the character he is, iFani took it like a man and admitted to his mistake.
iFani you've probably kicked yourself multiple times for this but hey, at the end of the day it's all business and you've learned your lesson. Now go out there and double up.
