Interviews: Shota still going strong for the love of music
By ZAlebs on 12 January 2016 at 08:57 · Comments
Shota has insisted that the entertainment industry must be treated as a business venture.

Throughout the years, Shota has given us multiple hits that have heated up the dancefloor, with his group Shana a huge success.

Fast-forward to 2016 and Shota is still that Afro Pop vocalist that everyone wants to work with.

With a signature voice and a strong body of work behind him, Shota is still going strong for the love of music.

Having released his fourth studio album, Timeless, in 2015, Shota has already shot two of his music videos for Friday Night and Yehlisa Umoya in the UK and in Swaziland.

ZAlebs got to chat to Shota and enquire as to why he enjoys shooting his music videos outside of our borders.

"I’m just one of those guys who loves music and if I was not a musician I would’ve probably been a politician. I’m very passionate about the youth, especially our African youth. I believe as Africans we’ve got loads of stories to tell and I think using our platforms as musicians is the best way to unite young Africans.

"So by me shooting videos in other countries is a way of me strengthening my ties with people. Plus those are the same people who have shown me nothing but love and support in my career.

"I also shoot my videos in other countries with the aim of profiling these beautiful countries I travel to."

Speaking so passionately about the youth, Shota also made it clear that the youth must also realise that the music industry is first a business before anything else.

"I’d also like to tell the youth that the music industry is a business just like any other business. You follow the same structures and business modules just like any other industry.

"Remember, we are also selling products and services just like any other company. Be in the music industry for the right reasons, do your research and know why you want to be in the music industry."

Whilst on the topic of business, Shota has also ventured into the fitness business and is looking at releasing a fitness DVD.

"Oh yes! I’ve got a team in Durban that I’m working with in releasing this DVD. My team and I have decided to seriously go big with this fitness project.

"We’re planning on bringing health conscious brands on board so when we release the DVD it comes with an energy drink, supplements, and so forth. We’re still putting our ducks in a row but we’re definitely winning."

We've also seen a lot of Shota's fans enquiring about his Shota music t-shirt. The artist let us know how you can get hold of his t-shirts.

"It’s actually quite easy to get a hold of those t-shirts. People can go to www.shotamusic.com and place an order or they can contact my man Pat on 0714920094."
