Dubbed the 'First Lady of Motswako', this week’s ZAlebs hijacker, rapper and singer Fifi Cooper, graced us with her presence at the ZAlebs pozzi. She not only took over the ZAlebs news, but also opened up about the success and respect she has garnered from the hip hop community thus far.
We first took it back to her primary school days. For those who don’t know, Fifi was the lead singer in her primary school choir. We asked the pint-sized rapper which songs she enjoyed leading the choir with.
“It definitely was the prayer, we had this prayer that we used to sing every morning at school and I’d always be the one starting it. Those were the good old days," she told ZAlebs.
Fifi Cooper’s music video Kisses has reached 141,664 views on YouTube. Could it be that she’s gunning for a million views for the video?
This is what she had to say:
“I’d love for my video to get to a million views, but I don’t think it will, purely because I’m releasing soon, so the focus has shifted from Kisses to my latest single Monate C. I’m glad people are loving and still supporting Kisses so I don’t know, the people might surprise me and get the video to a milli!”
A couple of weeks ago Fifi also appeared on Rhythm City for a cameo role that she hopes will get her into more acting roles in the future.
"I believe that I'm an all-around entertainer, I'm not just a rapper/singer I'm an entertainer who can do it all. I also want to dabble in presenting one day and act too. I really just want to do everything because I believe that God gave me this talent to utilise to the best of my abilities."
The rapper also mentioned that she is aware of the high demand from people to get a hold of her Fifi Cooper merchandise and will be releasing it as soon as she finds a suitable shop to sell the merchandise in.
“We’re still struggling because we’re still looking for a shop where we can sell the merchandise. But it’s difficult because we can’t take orders from people as there’s too much happening at the moment. However, we do want to sell the merchandise and as soon as we’ve figured out where everyone can find he merchandise, we’ll let you know.
"Hopefully we’ll find a store before December because we have a lot of merchandise we’d love to sell. There’s t-shirts, crop tops, dresses for the ladies, so I’m just begging for the fans to be patient with us - the Fifi Cooper merchandise is coming!”
Being in the limelight comes with its downsides. Fifi made it clear that she wants to be known for her career and not her personal life, which is something difficult to hold to yourself in the industry.
"I really try to keep my private life private, but sometimes your life can't be private all the time but I try with all my might. I know the entertainment industry comes with rumours and people either hating or loving you but I'm ready for whatever they can say about me the next day on the papers. At the end of the day I know I'm just pushing my thing, focusing on my career whilst inspiring other young ladies, showing them that they can also do this."
