Don Mlangeni, who acts as Zeb Matabane on SABC 3's hit soapie, Isidingo is making headlines for all the wrong reasons this morning. The star has reportedly been fired from the cast of the show following his refusal to endorse a big brand that appeared in his section of the script. The news was broken by the Daily Sun late on Monday and has continued to make waves on Tuesday as fans of the show are said to be in shock at such a decision.
Mlangeni, whose character, Zeb, is a popular fixture on Isidingo has been acting on the soapie for close to 15 years which is why the decision to fire him over such a ridiculous incident has fans and viewers in confusion.

The brand involved was apparently one of South Africa's big banks and Mlangeni blatantly refused to say the bank's name despite it appearing in his lines.
A source close to the actor revealed that Mlangeni felt used and was willing to take the matter to SABC's general manager. The source claims:
"This emanates from the fact that actors are not allowed to endorse products or companies without the boss's consent. His argument was that he was only getting his monthly salary with no bonus or additional money for endorsing the bank. When he endorses a big company like that he's supposed to get his share"
It has yet to be verified by credible sources whether or not Mlangeni has been fired, however Mlangeni has vowed not to take the matter to the media, insisting that it is a personal matter which will be dealt with accordingly. Endemol, the production house behind Isidingo is expected to release a statement shortly.
