What's Hot: Ms SA Runner Up stripped of title
By Tinashe Venge on 10 December 2014 at 14:19 · Comments
So this is rather unfortunate, Matlala Mokoko, who came runner up to Rolene Strauss in this year's Miss SA pageant, has been stripped of her title.

Sigh, we really don't know why it's so difficult for some people to just abide by the rules. Take a look at Matlala Mokoko, who was named first runner up in this year's Miss South Africa pageant that was won by Rolene Strauss. She's been stripped of her title today, why? Because she just couldn't stick to the rules!

During her reign as Miss SA runner up, Mokoko was forbidden from entering and participating in other pageantries until the baton was passed on to this year's runner-up. Matlala breached her contract when she participated in Miss Mamelodi Sundowns.

I suppose the only consolation is that it was all worth it, considering that she won this year's Miss Mamelodi Sundowns and walked away with over R2million in cash and prizes. But does that mean that her breach of contract was justified?

Sun International's PR Manager issued a statement today, confirming that Mokoko had been stripped of her title:

"Miss Mokoko will, unfortunately, have to relinquish her title as a Miss South Africa second princess she is currently in breach of her contract with Miss South Africa and therefore will have no further obligations to the Miss South Africa pageant or any future events related to the pageant. We wish Matlala a very successful reign and know that she will be a great ambassador to Mamelodi Sundowns."
