Acrobatic Burundi drummers, fire dancers, mimes, instrumentalists, comedians, weightlifters, traditional singers and much more… SA’s Got Talent returns this August to e.tv with an exciting new season.
The highly-anticipated reality show, which uncovers the best acts throughout the country, will once again follow the journey of judges Shado Twala, Ian von Memerty and Kabelo ”Bouga Luv” Mabalane as they search for South Africa’s next super talent.
Beloved comic, Tats Nkonzo, is also back as the charming presenter who will guide viewers through the good, the bad and the fantastic. Last night ZAlebs attended the exclusive launch of show at The Venue in Melrose Arch. The star studded night was filled with humour and also a surprise performance by 11 year old poet Botlale Boikanyo who won last year’s competition.
We asked judge, Ian, what separates this season apart from the other seasons we’ve seen in the years and this is what he had to say:
“Every year it gets better, there’s much more variety in terms of the talent that’s been coming on stage and what’s fascinating for us is that it’s these small towns that are coming out with these amazing talents. It seems as though these contestants have got something to measure themselves against and that’s been our biggest surprise, small towns really brought their A-game to the forefront of this competition ” said Ian.
We unfortunately couldn’t get a word from Kabelo who quietly left the event before it even ended, however Ian had some positive words about Mabalane who joined the team of judges last year:
“Last year Kabelo was nervous and you could see it, but this year he has blown us away, he now knows why his on this show and he has just owned his space on television which is fantastic…he has no hair but he’s definitely owned his space.”
Media veteran Shado Twala had some enlightening words to share about this season SA’s Got Talent and how
“It’s been a pleasant ride, the show has taught me the strength of diversity we possess in this country and how gifted we are as a people because I’ve always known that when there’s no work or lack of education we’ve always survived purely because we’re good with our hands, bodies and voices so as a nation we’ve been able to use what we have in order to get by which is a great lesson to all of us. The talent that God has given you use it and it will take you to heights you never thought you could reach.”
The winner of this season, who will be announced at the live finale on Thursday, 17 October, will walk away with the R250 000 grand prize and the opportunity to become a global sensation.
Don’t miss the premier episode of the new season of SA’s Got Talent on Thursday, 29 August at 8:30PM on e.tv
