It's been a week of Twitter wars and embarrassing tweets, but it wouldn't be complete without Kanye West having his way and getting people talking once again. This time the, the focus of Yeezy's anger was night-time talkshow host, Jimmy Kimmel.
Some background news, for those who haven't been following: Kanye West gave an exclusive, in depth interview with BBC which was published this week. In the hour long interview Kanye West revealed his ambitions for his daughter, North West. The rapper declared that he would like to see his daughter become wealthy by the age of 6. His explainead:
"I’m going to tell my daughter, by the time she understands what it is, ‘Man, me and your mother were in a completely different situation than you’re in. People could take pictures, people could climb over your fence, and you wouldn’t even get paid for it. You see all these checks that you’re getting at the age of six because people are taking your picture? I made that happen, Nori.’ That’s what I’m going to tell her,”
A little bizarre, sure. But nothing new from Yeezy. Jimmy Kimmel, being the comic personality he is, took it upon himself to spoof Kanye West's interview with Zane Lowe from the BBC. Kimmel managed to get two kids to re-inact Kanye's BBC interview in a tongue-in-cheek jab at the rapper.
Needless to say, this spoof was not well received in the West household and Kanye took to Twitter to respond. Have a look at the tweets below:
Kanye didn't stop there, though. Yeezy signed off by posting two (Pretty lame, we must admit) personalised memes of Jimmy Kimmel- both of which are a little too vulgar to share on our site, but feel free to check out the rapper's timeline.
This was a pretty useless Twitter battle- but then again, when are they ever anything but? A lot has been said of Kanye's maturity levels and his over-the-top response to, what was essentially a childish jab, ought not to be dismissed lightly. It's getting more and more difficult for fans of the rapper to continue defending him as he finds one method of embarassing himself after the other.
I don't think there can be any doubting, though, that he loves it and wouldn't have it any other way. Like Miley Cyrus, anything to get people talking is a success for Kanye.
