Everyone has their own opinion about Kwaito and whether it is still relevant. One thing is for sure, though, the genre has made excellent use of samples down the years.

Have you ever listened to a song and were sure that you’ve heard it before, but couldn't quite place your finger on where?

Chances are that the song you are listening to has used samples from other hits that have come before.

Kwaito has made use of sampling in the past, and we have found two of our favourites for you to enjoy.

So, here we go...

Do you remember Msawawa’s hit single Wawungakanani?

Msawawa's music producer sampled this 1976's track, titled My Love is Free, by a group called Double Exposure. Listen to the original song below. It actually has a pleasurable soulful groove. Eish, Bulldogs Production gave us great kwaito songs, it's such a pity they didn't last all that long.

Pitch Black Afro’s side-kick Bravo also dabbled in sampling in his 2004 single, Shukumisa. Although his music career came to a sudden halt, this song was a banger in the summer of 2004!

Bravo sampled Australian singer Dannii Minogue's 1984 single Holiday. Dannii is also the older sister of Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue. Here's a very old video of Dannii performing the song during an 80s television show.

Wow. Now that was a trip down memory lane. Which song from above is your favourite?
