What a sad way to start the week off! We got confirmation over the weekend that legendary actor, Boikie Mohlamme has kicked the bucket. The pitiful news was confirmed by Mabutho "Kid" Sithole, director of the Creative Workers' Union of South Africa.
He told Daily Sun that this was an extraordinary loss for the entertainment business, especially considering that Boikie left at a critical time when on-screen characters required his skill the most.
“Boikie died yesterday morning. “He was admitted to hospital yesterday after he complained of chest pains,” said Sithole on Friday.
Ntate Boikie featured in films such as ’n Pot Vol Winter, Warriors from Hell and Taxi to Soweto.
Earlier this year the actor was honoured, together with other veteran actors on Human Rights Day at an event held at Museum Africa in Johannesburg.
The occasion was put together by theatre legend, Siphiwe Msimango and actress, Keketso Semoko who acts in the soapie Isidingo.
