ZAlebs reporter, Clayton Morar, was in high company at the opening of CSquared in Cape Town. CSquared is a high end, men's luxrury clothing brand. There was a sprinkling of local celebrities and high profile fashion personalities: let's see what went down!
Cape Town male fashionistas were out and about this week to celebrate the opening of CSquared, the Flagship luxury menswear brand, at Canal Walk Shopping Centre on Thursday.
The store itself boasts a stunning luxury emporium of style, edge and exclusivity where you can shop the complete range of CSquared suits, accessories and one of kind designer items, and was designed by former Top Billing presenter and designer Aidan Bennetts - one of the best dressed men on the evening – who donned an all-black CSquared suit with a big stunning black bow tie to finish off the look.
Cape Town’s fashion media, and society’s elite were in attendance but I was severely disappointed at the lack of celebrity turn out on the night.
Comedian Marc Lottering, a CSquared ambassador, rocked a black chic tailored suit with colour pair of Converse sneakers and was in giggles all night long with Hectic Nine-9's Danilo Acquisto and Expresso insert presenter Danine Naidoo – who wore a black jersey dress with metallic lip details while dazzling in a sexy black ankle boot. Marc was seen cracking jokes all night long, after the announcement of him co-hosting SABC2's Strictly Come Dancing was released earlier on the day.
Jameson and Peroni to keep the vibe flowing with an array of drinks, despite the fact that guests only started rocking up 30 minutes later after the scheduled launch start. Snacks and canapés were only served an hour-and-half after the allotted starting time, and ravished guests managed to taste on fish cakes as well as beef and Salmon canapés only once the champagne was popping. The event seemed slightly unorganised, resulting in a very late start, and it didn't help listening to an array of speeches that were echoing loudly in the guests' ears before the store was eventually declared open for business.
I was, however, impressed with the general fashion flair most guests brought to the occasion. They seemed to encompass the cutting-edge formal wear look, which CSquared has been known for in SA over the past 11 years of existence. Prior to having a flagship store that exclusively stocked the brand, CSquared has been stocked at major Markham and Stuttafords stores nationwide as well as indie boutiques like Bogart Man.
Having started off as a branch brand from Carducci, CSquared is expected to launch further flagship stores in Johannesburg later this year as well as a few more stores around the country soon.
