Is Maps Maponyane about to become the newest member of the Top Billing team? According to Sunday Sun, the model and TV host has been spotted at the show's studios numerous times.
A source told the paper that Maps, who's celebrating his birthday today, has all the qualities needed to be a Top Billing presenter. "He’s eloquent, sophisticated and refined. His looks also help him," the source added.
An insider at Tswelopele Productions told Sunday Sun that management did not waste any time in scouting for a replacement for the late Simba Mhere’s. Simba, who was on the show for four years, died in a car accident in January.
The insider said: "For formality purposes, management had to hold a star search competition where hopefuls auditioned, but the truth of the matter is that they've got their man and it's Maps Maponyane."
Another source told Sunday Sun: "Maps fits the Top Billing criteria by far, even before Simba’s untimely death, management was always in talks with him to add more elegance to the show."
Production manager, Lisa Stewart told the paper that they're looking for new three presenters for three different shows, which Top Billing is among them. "We’ve finished auditions," she added.
When Sunday Sun asked if Maps would replace Simba, Lisa said: "We’ll use Maps for our future shows."
Maps told the paper that if the opportunity presents itself, he'll grab it with open arms. "I've been working closely with the production team for years," he hinted.
