Metro FM is on the roll here and it looks like they are being tougher on their DJs.
Just weeks after DJ's Sbu's suspension, it has been revealed that Tbo Touch and his co-host Refiloe Mpakanyane have been suspended.
According to Sunday Sun, this was done because of their "verbal diarrhoea and not adhering to the station's rules". A source told the paper that they received letters of suspension this week.
The Touchdown was reportedly hosted by Ismail Ibrahams, while DJ Mlu stood in on Friday.
The source said: "They don't want to follow the rules, sometimes they want to do their own thing, so the management decided to give them leave."
According to Sunday Sun's source, the fact that Touch has high ratings sometimes goes to his head.
"The problem with Touch is that you can't tame him. He speaks his mind and knows he's good at what he does and you can't tell him anything. So sometimes management doesn't take kindly to that," the source added.
The paper reported that Touch denied being suspended. He reportedly said he was he was attending a workshop with the new presenters of the show.
But mustn't have been a cover-up as Metro FM’s marketing and PR manager, Happy Ngidi, confirmed Touch and Refiloe's suspension.
She told the paper: "He's off the air. He's not scheduled, but he'll be back on soon. Refiloe is also not scheduled until further notice."
She told Sunday Sun that the station was not at liberty to reveal the reasons for their suspension, adding: "It's a confidential matter between the employee and employer."
It gets worse for Tbo... the DJ is also reportedly under investigation from SARS.
