Minnie is one of several celebrities being recognised for the empowerment of SA communities.

Minnie Dlamini is up for the “Top Empowered Media Personality” at the 2016 Oliver Empowerment Awards.

The TV personality has been nominated alongside several other celebrities including Bonang Matheba, Basetsana Kumalo, Trevor Noah, Khanyi Mbau, and Jo-Ann Strauss.

The category recognises “exceptional leadership and tireless efforts in addressing and raising awareness about community issues in South Africa”.

Minnie, who has supported a number of charities during her career, launched the Minnie Dlamini Foundation in 2014.

The foundation helps provide education to underprivileged girls.

In 2015, Minnie announced that her foundation would help finance the university fees of at least 29 school girls in 2016.

Wow, talk about beauty with a purpose.
