Taking centre stage at the annual Metro FM Music Awards will be SABC1 Soccer Zone presenter, Minnie Dlamini.
Alongside her will be Metro FM DJ, Tbo Touch. In case you were hiding under some rock, yes, Minnie Dlamini will be hosting the 2015 MetroFM Music Awards this Saturday (28 February).
ZAlebs managed to get an interview with the bubbly presenter to find out more about the ongoings of her preparations for the awards.
ZA: Hi Minnie, will this be your first time hosting the Metro FM Awards, we could’ve sworn we saw you hosting them in 2013?
MD: Well, yes actually it will be my first time hosting the awards. However in 2013 I did the backstage hosting with William Lehong.
ZA: When were you notified of being the awards host?
MD: I received the call last Monday and we've been in planning mode since.
ZA: Normally the MetroFM Awards are hosted by the station's on air personalities, what does it mean for you being selected although you not part of the Metro FM team?
MD: (Laughs) Well, Metro FM has been family to me since 2012, and as I am contracted to the SABC it really isn't much of a surprise that I was asked to co-host.

ZA: Who will be dressing you on the day of the awards?
MD: I will be dressed by New York based Michael Costello; the styling will be done also by New York based celebrity stylist, Steven Kinlock.
ZA: How many outfits will you be changing?
MD: As many as the timing allows me (Laughs) my co-host for the awards jokingly says: I'll have changes from the dressing room to backstage and then change backstage for the stage (Laughs)
ZA: Can the viewers expect something different from this year’s awards compared to previous years, what will be new?
MD: The stage looks amazing. It's closer to the people as there is a golden circle. The acts selected to perform are out of this world. What I love about it all is that Metro FM has thought out every single detail for the entertainment value of the viewer watching at home. Same brief given to us as hosts, as we are the bridge to the viewer for those 2 hours.
ZA: The awards will be held in Durban in your home ground, what can we expect from you on the day? (Any KZN/Durban representation)
MD: All I can say is keep your eyes glued onto the screen to see.
ZA: Will your family be accompanying/supporting you at the awards?
MD: My family is always supportive of everything I do. They know how important this is to me, my first major hosting in my hometown. I arrived today and the excitement and support from my people has just been amazing.
ZA: What are you mostly looking forward to on the awards night?
MD: The big award! Which is Song Of The Year, and of course, the final performance as that is always a thriller.
ZA: What will you get up to after the awards, will you be letting your hair down at after party perhaps?
MD: I'll be working, as I'll be hosting one of the after parties.
The 2015 Metro FM Awards will be taking place at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Conference Centre in Durban, KZN.
