Moments ago it was revealed that our own Miss South Africa Rolene Strauss had been crowned as Miss World. She's won the title over runner ups, Miss Hungary, Edina Kulcsar, and Miss United States, Elizabeth Safrit, who took third place.
In her acceptance speech, Rolene said she was both proud and humbled to have won and that her dreams had become reality:
“My country is my pride and my purpose has and will always lie within it.”
When Rolene won the Miss South Africa title in March this year she said in her acceptance speech that she had goose bumps thinking just thinking about the title."
“In my country we are all here from different backgrounds and cultures but we have one thing in common - we are South Africans. I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am to represent such a diverse nation. South Africa, this is for you. I'm so proud of you and proud to be your representative." She said.
Congratulations poured in from all corners of the country in light of this great achievement Rolene has achieved.
Here are some proud tweets from our local celebrities who also expressed great pride and excitement surrounding Rolene's new role as Miss World.
We of course had to break it down to the nae nae dance when we heard that one of our own was crowned Miss World.
Congratulations Rolene.
