M-Net's local movies station commends one year of incredible storytelling, topping an extremely effective year of showcasing non-stop South African films for groups for audiences all over the nation.

Launched on the 10th of September 2013. Mzansi Bioskop began off with a strong vision: to make a 24-hour local movie channel that would tell home grown stories for audiences, and also give a critical boost to the South African film industry.

“On both of these scores, I believe that we have achieved way beyond our expectations,” says Nkateko Mabaso, M-Net’s Director for Local Interest Channels.

“Mzansi Bioskop’s audience have welcome the authentic Mzansi stories that are told through the content on the channel, because they are a reflection of the life and experiences of our people and the communities they know. We look back with pride on the first year and forward to the next year of original, South African storytelling.”

Among the late movies showcased on Mzansi Bioskop are Plastic Money by Blackbrain and Viva Gomora by Urban Brew.

Altogether Mzansi Bioskop has a stock of three hundred movies created to date. A large portion of these have been indicated on Mzansi Bioskop amid the previous twelve months – and, over the coming year, viewers can anticipate more extraordinary stories to be told.
