The popular Mzansi Magic show Headline, which was already within its six season running, has reached the end of the road. The show was known for its sincere glimpse into the “real” lives of local celebrities.
Lani Lombard who is M-Net’s head of communications confirmed to the Sowetan Live that the sixth season of the show would be the last.
“Mzansi Magic is currently changing its line-up to create a general entertainment channel that will entice even more people to enjoy our unique local content offering. As a result, we have decided not to commission Headline for a seventh season.”
Lombard showered the show with nothing but praises and acknowledged all the hard work, passion and enthusiasm that was placed into producing headlines. She also praised presenters Kuli Roberts and Trevor Gumbi’s talents in putting the show on the forefront of South African television.
Comedian Trevor Gumbi expressed his gratitude in being part of such great piece of work.
“I’ve learnt so much from the show and will forever be grateful to the producers for making me part of this journey.”
According to Sowetan Live, Gumbi is pursuing the idea of producing his own television shows and continuing his career as a comedian.
