Fashion photog duo Mert & Marcus got up close and personal with Naomi Campbell, who wears nothing but a crown of luscious locks, styled in her signature middle part, a bold gold necklace, and matching bracelets. Naomi is one of the six editions hitting newsstands this week. Other covers feature Nicole Kidman, Keira Knightley, Amber Valletta, Léa Seydoux and Daria Werbowy.
We love seeing beautiful women on magazines but there is something about this cover that has us intrigued. It reminds us a lot of the Lira pose for New African Woman magazine.
Last year April, Lira graced the cover of New African Woman, a magazine created by IC Publications, a Pan African publishing house based in London with distribution across Africa, North America and Europe. The three-page fashion spread, Lira: The Rising Style Icon, features the South African singer decked out in ensembles from designers Sylvester Falata, 46664, Black Coffee, Stoned Cherrie, Bongiwe Walaza, Palesa Mokubung, African Mosaique, Gert-Johan Coetzee, David Tlale, Errol Arendz, Maria McCloy and Dipo Kreations.
Lira is quoted on website Je Wanda saying: "I’m honored to have been chosen by New African Woman magazine to appear as their Spring 2013 cover story. Regina Jere-Malanda approached me at fashion week some time ago and expressed her interest and I’m thankful to her and the entire team for the style spread showcasing me in some of my favorite designers."
Is Interview Magazine's cover a copy of New African Woman or just a coincidence?
Thanks to Melissa Abrahams for giving us a heads up on these two covers.
