TLC's Next Great Presenter was named at a glitzy ceremony in Johannesburg on Wednesday night.
Namibia’s David Mbeha beat Star Khulu, from South Africa, and Botswana's Mpiwa Bagwasi.
He became the network's first African presenter and will host TLC TOP 10, a new show that will air in December.
The show will countdown some of the best moments from TLC favourites like Say Yes to the Dress and Cake Boss.
The 20-year-old also won a trip to Bali and will feature in the January issue of Cosmopolitan magazine.
Network executives praised David for the passion he showed throughout the competition.
Star Khulu took to Twitter on Thursday morning to defend herself, after South African fans accused her of not doing enough to get more votes.
Some criticised her for only pushing for votes on Twitter.
But Star hit back and said while she was disappointed she did not win, she did her very best.
Star added it simply was not her time.
Well said. Congratulations on your win David!
