#NOHOMO: Kevin Hart refuses gay roles

Kevin Hart spoke to the press this week and revealed that he's not homophobic... but he'd never take on the role of a gay character in a film.

Well then, Kevin Hart. I'm still trying to decide if his latest comments could be offensive, or if they are pretty fair game. See, he went and spoke to the press this week (Mainly Bang Showbiz, by the looks of things) and revealed that he could never take on the role of a gay character in a movie or a television show. Here's why:

Kevin Hart: I can’t. Not because I have any ill will or disrespect. It’s because I don’t think I’m really going to dive into that role 100 percent because of insecurities about myself trying to play that part. Does that make sense?

Uh, on the one hand, sure, as an actor you have the right to reject and accept any roles that are offered to you. And look, Kev' was honest in this report. He reveals that it's because of his insecurities and that he knows he wouldn't fully throw himself into it. He kept emphasizing that he loves the gay community, he just can't play a gay character.

However, I've noticed a few people on social media commenting that Kevin Hart is homophobic, because he can't play a gay character. This comment below didn't help out either. He talks about the movie, Tropic Thunder  where he turned down the role of Alpa Chino, which was eventually taken on by Brandon T Jackson

“The dude, he was doing a lot of stuff in the draft that I read. It was real flagrant… I was like: ‘I can’t do this.’"

I get where he's coming from, or what he's trying to say, but I don't think this was the most necessary thing to include in an interview. If you don't want to take on a certain type of role, I don't think you need to explain your reasons in public.

What do you think, do these comments make Kevin Hart sound homophobic?
