Isibaya's Nomzamo Mbatha shares her top tips to looking fabulous 24/7 with ZAlebs reporter Zee Dladla.
Since you’ve made your debut appearance on Isibaya what’s a normal stroll to the shops like for you these days?
Definitely not the same as last year! People approach me wanting to take pictures and videos with me, asking me about the different characters on the show as if they're also in some way a part of it. I think it’s absolutely wonderful and so very amazing!
In a previous interview you mention how you’ve never had any formal acting training, were does this natural flare for acting come from? It seems like you’ve been doing this since you were in diapers!
Haha, thank you, I'm flattered. Well I suppose I've always been quite the charismatic individual but I think my natural flair comes from my love of people's stories and always imagining myself in their shoes. I've also always had some sort of longing to be on stage and express myself in ways that I wouldn't be able to in a normal environment. Although I may have some natural ability, it's my dream to go to a performing arts school to both shape and mould me into a great story-teller/actress.
Everyone knows you have fabulous hair! What’s the secret to keeping it in tip-top shape and how often do you go to the salon?
The secret: pure coconut oil and braiding your hair into plaits every single night. This year I had to have a certain hairstyle for the show which didn’t allow me to change styles so that damaged my hair a bit. However, the miracle of pure coconut oil restored it. I visit the salon every two weeks for a treatment.
What’s your favourite outfit to wear when you’re on a girls' night out?
Chic-simplicity is key. I love a printed shirt with a high waisted skirt or a great pair of leggings. That way, the shirt will grab the attention whilst the leggings or skirt accentuate your figure.
You’re someone who absolutely loves to laugh, what has been the funniest tweet an Isibaya fan has sent to you lately?
Oh wow…Every single day I get the funniest tweets and absolutely die with laughter. The most common one is girls telling me how their boyfriends have a crush on me and how they don't mind, which I think is the most adorable thing.
How was it being the leading lady in Donald’s Your Joy music video and working along with actor Clint Brink?
Wonderful…Donald's a great musician who prides himself in making good quality videos which tell a story. Working with Clint was an absolute pleasure... What an AMAZING actor! I really had fun shooting with both of them.
This is a question every South African man would love to know the answer to - does Nomzamo have a real “Sbu” in her life?
No!
