Yes, Bra Hugh’s #WeavesMustFall movement is going strong and this week he told 702 that he does not discriminate against gender.
He caused an uproar on Twitter with #weaves and #BraHugh trending.
Why is Bra Hugh so passionate about his disdain for weaves?
Well, according to the music legend, you are betraying your African heritage, people!

Bra Hugh talked hair politics with 702, and reiterated that he will not take any pictures with women wearing weaves – and he particularly hates Indian and blonde hair weaves.
He noted that he has not seen any Swedish or Indian person wearing 'African hair'.
Two words Bra Hugh: Rachel Dolezal. Remember her? The white woman who pretended to be black for a number of years and even rocked various “African hair” looks.
So why are black women hiding their natural hair in favour of fake hair? Because they look good!
Not so, says the Grazing in the Grass singer. Bra Hugh says some women who wear weaves look comical.
Mmm, now where would he have got that idea from?
But Black Twitter was having none of his weave-a-phobia, and gave the legend a piece of their minds.
Mirriam Makeba didn't do weaves yet you couldn't stay with her for 2 years Bra Hugh?

"@TsidiBish: I've realised people who nitpick about people's looks, choices etc are deeply unhappy with their own lives. #weaves" typical!

@tito_mboweni Bra Hugh lost the plot completely on #weaves. Drop the trumpet Bra Hugh and rather blow lepatata. That's cultural heritage

Are these girls the sources of weave? Let me ask Bra Hugh Masekela pic.twitter.com/i6W9vnUO8C

We’re not sure how Bra Hugh will get his “Weave Police” to keep track of which black woman is wearing a weaving or not. Some black women are mixed and their natural hair might be mistaken for a weave.
Sarah Langa and Amanda du-Pont be at a Bra Hugh concert like… see no tracks.
But don’t you worry your pretty little weaves about Bra Hugh’s comments, because the singer says women can wear weaves if they like, he just refuses to take pictures with them.
So, don’t be surprised if you go to a Bra Hugh concert and he is like…
