Reviews: #OPW: Seven children and some alcohol

Another episode of OPW has got the whole of Mzansi talking after we met a groom who loves his alcohol and a VERY confident bride.

Lindi and Silas met when Lindi was just 14. Two decades later, and after SEVEN children, they finally decided to have their white wedding.

Here is a question: would they have had the wedding if they knew it wouldn’t be on national television? We honestly think this couple just wanted to be on TV, because they had a traditional wedding celebration before and it sounded like it was quite a big event. Or maybe sis’ Lindi also wanted to walk down the aisle in a white gown?

Before we go any further, let’s talk about Sila’s drinking. We understand the man was being himself and we condone that, but he could’ve at least tried to stay sober? The groom literally spoke of alcohol and having a hangover more than the wedding preparations. He might not have said it, but we know alcohol was on the top of his wish list.

Then Lindi chose that one relative who would just know how to say the wrong things. The relative spoke about how Lindi came crying to her about Silas cheating on her. Was that necessary? Did the world have to know that? Some of these people need scripts.

The wedding wasn’t entirely bad, although there were one or two things which we felt were a miss.

First it was Silas' suit. It was too big for him, and the white? For a groom? Isn’t that colour reserved for the bride?

The groomsmen didn’t look bad. We liked the fact that their outfits matched the decoration, which was also looking good. Who would have thought that silver and yellow can make such a beautiful combination? But, unfortunately, that combination didn’t really go well on the bridesmaids - the dresses looked unfinished. The silver looked too bling-bling and was unpleasant on the eye.

Lindi and her dress left us with mixed emotions and reminded us of Thandile Sunduza and her yellow SONA dress.

We don’t have issues with weight, but we think tight and body shaping clothes should be left for the petite. What’s the point of having confidence and then look like a squeezed whale in a dress? Not all clothing items look the same on every person. Lindi could have opted for something more favourable for her size?

The ceremony was dull. Was it the missing wedding vows or the poor attendance? The church was practically empty, it’s like nobody was excited over this wedding. And we were also disappointed with the no vows situation. From what we have observed, we think some of these pastors need go for a wedding conducting ceremony test. How can you leave out wedding vows? It’s like having cake with no sugar - it just doesn’t make sense.

Speaking of cake, their's was beautiful. The yellow and white nailed it. As much as it looked good from the outside, we are sure the couple liked the inside better, as some parts were mixed with brandy. Unfortunately, you can’t see us laughing but we are. If they had it their way, alcohol was going to be mixed into everything edible..

What was up with them feeding each other a banana, though?

The traditional part of the wedding was a bit unconventional. Only the bride and groom wore traditional attires and their entourage wore jeans and matching t-shirts. We agree it was different and unique, but the question is: was it beautiful? Honestly, they looked like waiters and waitresses.

We score this couple a six. Had Lindi chosen the right dress for her body and a proper suit for her husband, we would have given them a Bells.
