William and Glenda have been together since high school and celebrating their nuptials on a national TV show couldn’t have been more perfect for this young couple.
We always get excited when we witness young couples tying the knot, it’s a reminder that there are still people who take love and marriage serious.
Unfortunately, we can’t say great things about Glenda’s hair and make-up. We don’t expect such things from a 25-year-old. We have been blessed with Google, Pinterest, and YouTube. Getting free tutorials on drawing perfect eyebrows and finding good hair is as easy as breathing. We hope Glenda will familiarise herself with these useful internet tools in the future.
And the gold teeth were also there to fail the people. As if one gold tooth is not bad enough, Glenda and her maid of honour had enough gold teeth to outweigh Khulubuse Zuma. Where can we find the person who created this monstrosity? In fact, why is it still being manufactured? God save us from the gold tooth.
After the gold tooth disappointment, we breathed a sigh of relief when we realised that at least the bride and groom managed to get the major things right. We loved her wedding gown, it fitted perfectly and flowed very well on her body. We also approved of the groom’s suit, even though we felt like it was a bit too shiny.
We are not sure of the bridesmaid dresses. We understand the Chinese collar even though it’s old fashioned but this royal blue makes it look like they are on a Surf promotion. The groomsmen looked clean and dandy.
What impressed us the most about this wedding is that the couple knew the size of their pockets and they planned within their means. They had a small setup for matrimonial ceremony in the yard and ten steps away it was the reception which was also beautifully decorated.
The traditional outfits were too simple and generic for our liking. We don’t even want to talk about the traditional part of the wedding too much.
However, we want to talk about these people who, in their speech, usually advise the bride not to ask the husband questions about his whereabouts. It’s clear that these people aren’t aware that Apartheid is over, and someone needs to wake them up.
If it weren’t for those gold teeth, this wedding would have probably scored a seven out of ten. We are giving the wedding a five out of ten, as a result.
