Our Perfect Wedding took us on a real journey this weekend as we found ourselves in the heart of Nigeria. Well, no, not literally- the wedding still took place in South Africa but the show was able to convey to us the essence of Nigerian culture and wedding.
On this weekend's episode, Phumeza and her team introduced viewers to Nigerian couple, Temi and Semi who currently reside in South Africa. Now, before we scrutinize this “Perfect Wedding” we found it extremely adorable that Temi (The groom) admitted to the rest of South Africa that God revealed his wife-to-be (Semi) in a dream. How cute? Some of us would kill to be in Temi’s shoes, whilst some of us struggle to even find a date for two weeks!
The attention on Our Perfect Wedding is usually directed towards the bride; after all, it is her special day. However, in Semi’s case her little (yet not so little but still very attractive) sister received all of the attention from viewers of the show. We must admit we were also paying more attention to the hot little sister than the bride herself. While she assisted her brother-in-law with a décor we could’ve sworn Temi was eyeing her a few times, but hey, that could’ve easily been our eyes playing tricks on us.
Speaking about eyes, how hectic was the moment with that rather rude beautician who only cared about her reputation on camera? When Semi complained about the implanted eyelashes burning her eyes we couldn’t help but sympathize with her as the beautician lambasted her for making her look like an unprofessional pofressional. The irony in all this is that she (The beautician) was trying to avoid on camera, but ended up revealing herself more and more each time she tried to defend herself. In fairness, it was also Semi’s fault; a bride shouldn’t do anything extreme before her wedding day. Other people on Twitter weren't as kind to the beautician:
So the wedding day finally arrived and honestly everything went as planned, apart from the cake, which was falling apart. The fact that it was leaning on its side made us wonder if they were going for some kind of Leaning Tower of Pisa effect.
We would've also loved to see a more traditional wedding ceremony take place. The couple had their western wedding sorted, but we would have loved to see more of their West-African culture stream through.
A special thank you has to be given to Semi and Temi for giving us one of the BEST kisses of the season, short, sweet and definitely not messy! We hope the next batch of couples were watching and have now learned how it should be done. There have been some horrible kisses on Our Perfect Wedding so we hope this is the start of some sort of change in approach for these lovely young couples!
