This week rumours that Pearl Thusi was leaving RGB were making rounds in local gossip news. The rumors, it transpires, have turned out to be true. . Her management company Capacity Relations released a press statement this afternoon confirming Pearl's departure from RGB. Details of the statement below.
After an exciting, whirlwind experience hosting Mzansi’s highest rated lifestyle and entertainment show - The Real Goboza to an average of 5.6 million viewers, SA’s media darling Pearl Thusi has decided to say farewell to the much loved show.
Thusi, who joined RGB in early 2012, has had the most incredible journey with the show. Starting off as a host for RGB, her career opportunities soon expanded to include being a co-host on SABC 1’s Live Amp and earlier in 2013 she followed her passion back to acting by landing a role on SA’s long running soap - Isidingo.
Although feeling a bit nostalgic, Thusi is not saying goodbye to the SABC 1 viewers, who can still catch her on Live Amp on Friday evenings.
“We are definitely sad to see Pearl leave RGB, especially as it holds such a special place for her as a Launchpad for her career. She has grown from her experiences and guidance there, which has only made her a greater talent. There are many exciting opportunities that lie ahead for her including additional projects with the SABC and the production company, so the future is most certainly looking bright,” commented Sarit Tomlinson, CEO of Capacity Relations, Thusi’s management company.
With a massive audience and successful ratings, Thusi felt that it was time to move forward and open the gates to Sinazo Yolwa and Amanda du-Pont.
“I absolutely loved my time on RGB. I have had an incredible journey and everyone at the show has been amazingly supportive with my decision to move on. I am not saying goodbye, just see you soon. I have so many great things going on at the moment that I had to make a tough decision on what to focus on. I feel that I’m handing over a stronger and better show to Sinazo and Amanda and I wish everyone involved the best of luck,” remarked Thusi.
Pearl will still be seen on RGB until the end of November.
