Fans of veteran disc jockey Phat Joe can rejoice – he’s returning to radio, only a few months after resigning from his previous show at Heart FM. Times Live reports that Joe, real name Majota Kambule, will be replacing Carol Ralefeta in the 5am to 9am slot on Saturdays. The DJ resigned from Heart FM in October last year to focus more energy on his SABC 1 show Real Goboza.
But Phat’s arrival is one change of several at Metro FM, reported The New Age. The station has shuffled Carol Ralefeta, Eddie Zondi and Ismail Abrahams, while Minnie Dlamini and Adil are joining the crew. 5FM left its main schedule unchanged. But it will welcome Stephanie B, who left Good Hope FM, and Ms Cosmo, a popular hip-hop DJ and Y FM presenter. Highveld Stereo, aka. 94.7, also did not change much and held on to its prime presenters like Darren Simpson, Pabi Moloi and Anele Mdoda. Over at Yfm Bonang Matheba has hung up her weekend DJ shoes. She will now present a show on Tuesdays and work on celebrity inserts for the station.
Even talk radio is experiencing a few shifts. Popular host Eusebius McKaiser is leaving 702 for the upcoming Power FM, while John Webb will replace him in the 9pm slot.
