Oscar Pistorius, who is accused of shooting his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valetine's Day, will attend a hearing in Pretoria next Monday where he is expected to be formally charged with her murder and a trial date set. He has been free on bail since February.
The police in South Africa have concluded their investigation and sources say they are convinced Pistorius has a case to answer.
Pistorius says he accidentally shot Steenkamp through a closed bathroom door when he mistook her for an intruder. The state alleges the couple may have argued and he intentionally killed her.
He could face a life sentence in prison, with a minimum of 25 years, if convicted of a charge of premeditated murder.
