Popular TV actress Rami Chuene is the latest addition to the Muvhango family. The soapie plans to introduce a new, powerful family to its story line with Rami’s character set to be at the heart of it.
Chuene will play the role of Khomotjo Mojalefa who is Busani’s stepmother.
The former Scandal actress will be joined by Thembi Mtshali-Jones from Sgudi ‘Snaysi and Stokvel and Owen Sejake who will play the role of Phatudi Mojalefa. Mtshali-Jones will play the role of Phathudi’s ex-wife, Nandi Mojalefa.
Chuene said she was excited to be back on TV after a few years off screen, working with various charities.
"My role is interesting because it seems like she’s a gold digger whereas she’s not, and all she wants is recognition and respect."
Chuene said: "Khomotjo set her sights on a married Phathudi (Owen Sejake) at a time when he was growing his business empire and the act made her the sworn enemy of his stepson, Busani (Siyabonga Twala).
"While the years have passed, Busani’s and his mother Nandi’s anger and resentment have not diminished."
"She’s a rural girl from Limpopo who wanted the high life.
"But she isn’t just a bimbo with a short skirt, she has brains and knows what she wants and how to get there."
Chuene said she believes that her role will bring large number of Sepedi viewers to the soap, as it was the only language not represented.
She said she loves calling the shots in her new role.
She debuts tonight on Muvhango on SABC2 at 9pm.
